WWLN core team members collaborated with the Ministry of Women's Affairs (MoWA) to organize a joint initiative to address gender equality and intergenerational gaps on December 11th, 2024. This event was presided over by the Permanent Secretary of State of MoWA and joined by 261 participants (189 female) that included personnel from various ministries and police departments, university students, community parents & youth, and CSOs.
The initiative sought to foster public awareness on gender equality and transform social norms. Speakers highlighted the ways gender-related traditions and norms are passed down through generations, which can lead to differences in gender expectations between older and younger generations. The event featured stories of struggle among youth and their respective parents and older generation via theater, a TEDtalk, and a panel discussion.
